Geocache Description:

The United States Secret Service uses code names for U.S. presidents, first ladies, and other prominent persons and locations. The use of such names was originally for security purposes and dates to a time when sensitive electronic communications were not routinely encrypted; today, the names simply serve for purposes of brevity, clarity, and tradition. The Secret Service does not choose these names, however. The White House Communications Agency assigns them.

According to established protocol, good codewords are unambiguous words that can be easily pronounced and readily understood by those who transmit and receive voice messages by radio or telephone regardless of their native language. Traditionally, all family members' code names start with the same letter.

The codenames change over time for security purposes, but are often publicly known. For security, codenames are generally picked from a list of such 'good' words, but avoiding the use of common words which could likely be intended to mean their normal definitions.

For this wherigo, you will try to match a name with their Secret Service codename. The false codename choices are all actual Secret Service designations (none were made up for this wherigo). There are 35 codenames to match and over 120 incorrect codenames all randomly mixed in (so each play experience is different).

This is a play-anywhere wherigo. The coordinates listed on the cache page are not the location of the final geocache. You will need approximately 200 feet or so of space to play. With each question, you need to walk a distance (in any direction) to trigger the next question. If you got the previous question right it is a shorter walk then if you get it wrong. You can stop the quiz at any time, but you need to get at least 10 correct in order to be given the coordinates for the final geocache. There is no penalty for getting it wrong (other then a longer walk) and you can play as long as you like.

In order to log a find on geocaching.com you must find the final geocache and sign the log. if you are too far away to find the final geocache (located in Grand Rapids, MI) you may still claim credit for completion on wherigo.com.
