The cross at this junction was hit by a lorry and broken into 3 pieces.

The head and shaft are 1.61m standing upon an artificial mound. See here for more information. This 'Latin' cross, which may have originally been in Paul parish, had fallen down and had lain in the undergrowth for many years until a couple of years ago it was mounted upright again.

It's positioning is East-West facing.

Wayside crosses contribute significantly to our understanding of medieval religious customs and sculptural traditions and to our knowledge of medieval routeways and settlement patterns. All wayside crosses which survive as earth- fast monuments, except those which are extremely damaged and removed from their original locations, are considered worthy of protection.

Not much known about the cross but it could have been put there to guide people to the little church at Tregavarrah. Unfortunately the church is no longer there as it was bombed during the second world war when a German plane discharged its un used bombs over the area. One landed on the church just after the congregation had left the evening service and another bomb landed in Trewidden gardens which created what is now known as the 'fern pit'.
