Geocache Description:

Cache # 10 The cache is placed on the roadside beside this crossing. When I stepped out of the car to take a photograph I noticed on the left side of the road (facing Tarrawingee) what appeared to be the remnants of an old creek crossing. There are several big, old drums and old planks of wood.

I have placed this cache so that you are encouraged to pass a couple of places I mentioned in Two Oaks and a Gate. If you continue towards Tarrawingee on the left is The Plough Inn & Stables (1864) and on the right, Thomas Taylor Ladson's General Store and Homestead 'Carinya'. There was also a Public Hall attached to the building and old stables are visible in the yard. The first licensee was Hopton Nolan and the Inn was an important coaching stop. These buildings were erected to take advantage of the passing traffic heading to the goldfields at Beechworth and in anticipation of the rail line. When the railway line by-passed Carinya and the Inn, the general store failed and Ladson sold the property to Nolan who then lived there and ran the post office from the old store. Please take care when parking for this one. It is hard to get off the side of the road and two huge trucks roared past as I was about to place the cache. There is an easy spot to get off-road at the cattle yards close by. The cache is a small clip-top container with LOG sheet, a few trinkets and a Pathtag (at time of listing). Please bring your own PEN. CONGRATULATIONS - FTF - Harrowang!!
