Stoulton 1 – ‘Stone Me’ Traditional Cache

You are looking for a cache that is the 1st of 7 caches set on a circular walk of approx 2.5 Km around the area of Stoulton.
This is a logbook only, please bring pencil or pen.
Head up hill towards the church keeping to the side of the field.

After adopting the excellent local multi (GC11FXT – ‘Around the old Mill’) we noted that not many people visit to complete the cache, this is a shame as there was a lot of effort went in to this by the original CO and it was one of the first caches we did that got us hooked in to this new pastime. Obviously as one out on its own it does not appeal to the people looking to boost numbers so we have laid a trail of 7 additional caches (+ 1 slightly off the track – Stoulton Church Micro) in order to attract people to the area. The Mill that once stood in Stoulton was in ruins by the early 1300’s and the only physical evidence of its existence is when you look on an OS map of the area and see footpaths cutting diagonally across the fields, this was the easiest routes between the farm workers buildings, the Mill and the village Church. Some of these paths are still in regular use by Dog walkers!
The route is easy walking throughout with occasional livestock and inquisitive horses and no Dog unfriendly stiles. Suitable footwear is required as at certain times of the year it may well be quite muddy and in places the ground is a little uneven.
Note that we recommend that you complete the series in numerical order if you also want to complete the local Multi simultaneously. (GC11FXT – ‘Around the old Mill’).
