in our disclaimer.
This cache is all about the posted coordinates which are
approximately one mile from the parking coordinates. It is a spot
where a chosen few have answered the call of the wild. The southern
terminus is the official starting point (or ending point if you
start in Maine) of the 2181 mile Appalachian Trail. I have always
dreamed of walking this trail and now my journey has officially
started. Well at least one mile of it.
Due to the current Geocaching guidelines concerning the AT, a
multiple was the only way to get you to the Southern Terminus. Just
know that the journey to and from the terminus are your payoff on
this one. However an ammo box has been placed as convenient as
possible to your journey. There is no need to leave the trail at
any time (meaning DON'T BUSHWACK TO THE FINAL). The ammo box will
be accessible from your car as you get ready to leave. To get the
final coordinates you will need to get some information off of two
different plaques at the posted coordinates.
Final Coordinates: N34 38.XXX W084 11.YYY
XXX: XXX = Date - 1548. Go to the plaque where the blue and white
trail blazes converge. Take the Date on that plaque and subtract
1548.
YYY: YYY = Date - 1114. Go to the other plaque that has elevation
on it. Take the Date on that plaque and subtract 1114.
Make sure to write down the information and re-check your math. The
final coordinates are not too far from the parking coordinates just
off the road.

Small note: As required by the USFS for caches hidden in the
Chattahoochee National Forest the cache is prominently labeled as a
geocache and the label includes the GC3406Q waypoint number and the
owner's e-mail address. Enjoy!
