Water Hole Traditional Cache

905kaa: My 4WD's engine was wrecked recently leaving me with no feasible access in the near future to any of my caches. Too expensive to get a replacement engine for the second time in six months!! :(

Regretably, I am therefore having to archive all of my Dubai / UAE based caches in accordance with the Geocaching guidelines.

I do hope you have enjoyed visiting them over the past few months and that they have taken people to the various fascinating places where they are placed. Those that remain will still be there so anyone else is free to take them over if they choose or to retrieve any travelling items that may be in them.

Geocache Description:

A small cache in a plastic box with locking lid hidden close to a water hole in the desert off the Sweihan Truck Road.

The cache is hidden from plain view in an area adjacent to the water hole and the coordinates should take you there. It is NOT on or in the water hole itself. Water levels here seem to vary during the course of the year and he hole seems to be an important source of water for visiting birds and potentially other wildlife. Certainly Mountain Gazelle can be seen in this area and larger lizards on some of the sourrounding elevated ground.

Access probably by 4WD as there is some soft ground leading to the site. But it may be possible to get close if careful with a 2WD.

Alternative access from Dubai is take Al Quadra Street / Road all the way to the roundabout at the end and follow signs for Bab Al Shams. Take the long straight road past Bab Al Shams.

The cache contains at the time of placeent, a notebook, pen and a toy car, a Dodge Viper. Please send it on its way.
