Geocache Description:

A simple "pull" will do.

A cache by gjerjs, tormodel and reidarstol.

Eidsfossen is tucked away on the descend from Hemnekjølen, but off the main road and therefore not often visited by people "passing by". The are is a part of the old "Fosen" region and the main Fosen road went through here, hence the elaborate old bridge from the 1800s.

NORWEGIAN:

Ved Eidsfossen finnes ei verneverdig steinkvelvbru fra 1840-åra, som Statens Vegvesen har restaurert. Hemne bygdemuseum har satt opp ei orienteringstavle, som forteller om brua og andre kulturminner ved Eidsfossen: Sagbruk, kverndrift, meieri og kraftverk. Området er prioritert i fylkets kulturminneplan.

ENGLISH:

There is a protected bridge near the cache. The bridge is a "steinkvelvsbru" and was built in the 1840s. Department of road maintenance restored the brigde in the 1980s and it is now a nice sight in between the trees. This land is private (but open for anyone to walk on), but the local historical association maintain the sights in Eidsfoss. This includes an old mill, dairy, saw mill, hydro power plant and and granary mill.

The area is a priority with the local municipality's historical conservation plan and is an worth while stop while visiting Hemne.
