Full of history from past ages.
Just off the main road between Auckland and Tauranga.
No need to wake up the locals or go over them.

Established prior to 1898 for Waihi and the surrounding rural area, and the small coastal township of Waihi Beach. The Waihi administration was vested in the Waihi Borough Council in 1902. Between 1902 and 1913 the records were destroyed by fire.
