Geocache Description:

Emma’s Well is a perennial spring that flows crystal water all year round. It formed the northern arm a stream which flowed through the Tivoli property and into Rose Bay at 'Sophia's Falls'. The Horse trough placed here in 1874 was erected by Mr George Thorne of Claremont. Iron cups were also placed here for human use and a stream of water from the land of the Hon. Sir John Hay was diverted to it to ensure a constant supply. Legend has it that the spring was named after a nearby Aboriginal resident 'Emma Collins' who lived in a slab hut near today’s Rose Bay Convent. Emma would use the spring as her source of water. Other names were 'The Spring' and the romantic 'St Agnes Fountain' (cf the St Wenceslas carol).
Parking can be found on Rawson Road.
