As you come up the river, you drive though splendid area,
surrounded by national parks and nature reserves. Marramarra Creek
first narrows and then broadens into Friendly Bay, with Friendly
Island in its Center. The latter climbs quite steeply and exposes a
good set of boulders at its summit, overgrown by native bush,
including she-oaks, eucalypts and beautiful grass trees,
Xanthorrhoea. A real friendly environment! Australian cache seekers
will certainly have something to talk about their favorite fauna:
spiders!
Marramarra Creek is a side arm on Berowra
Creek, a busy boat route from northern Sydney Suburbs into Broken
Bay. Off the beaten track, there is no channel marked and you may
wish to come at high tide and land at one of the big mangrove
trees.
Avoid the oyster farms and read the channel location.
The farms have signs with the reading facing to the outside, where
you can drive. Beware of submerged
rocks!
