The local Pack353 Webelos and Boy Scouts were have a bonfire tonight here so I thought it would be a great opportunity to place this cache. This cache is in Youngstrom Woods (or sometimes called Litchfield Nature Center). The cache is located less than 50 feet off a main path, should be pretty easy to find. The path at times can get a little overgrown, especially if you decide to take the full loop around the park.
Litchfield Nature Center (AKA: Youngstrom Woods) is a 40 acre natural area with nature trails and group camping. It is located on 600th Ave and 230th St. The group camping area is used by local boy scouts and girl scouts. The camping area consists of fire ring, handpump well, restrooms and a flag pole (I don’t think I have seen the restroom or flag pole, don’t think they are still there). Wood chip (no longer wood chips either) nature trails meander through the park with some interpretation. There is also a trail easement to nearby Youngstrom Lake approximately 100 yards in length. On the eastern edge is a tree farm area with hardwood and conifers. The trails are used for cross country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter.
