Geocache Description:

This multi is in the beautiful little village of Nether Silton, and will take you on a nice walk from one end of the village to the other. Although I have included way points you could get all the clues by following my description.

Please park at above co-ords.

This was the C E primary school but closed in July 1987, it is now used as a village hall for all three villages Nether Silton, Over Silton and Kepwick
Please take note of the number on the telegraph pole/street lamp as you leave the car park=A

your second co-ords are N54 19 492 W001 17 939 As you make your way down the street known as Lead Lane, the first house on your right is known as Lopp Hall and belongs to the estate as did most of the houses in the village at one time, and next to it are the council houses although the right hand side one is now in private owner ship, to you left is the cricket ground, which moved to its present location from Over Silton in the 1930s.
As you reach the second co-ords You will find yourself outside Bellwood cottage, in the hedge opposite is a hydrant stone the two top numbers are =B & C.

Your third co-ords are N54 19 429 W001 18 003,
Proceed to the church and turn left and walk down the east wall. This is a public footpath although the post by the church wall only points in one direction but it does go both ways (remember this sign). Although the sign on the gate says there may be a bull in the field I have never known one, but if there is it will make an interesting log on the web site. Your goal is the stone in the field, there is an inscription on the south side of the stone, each letter being the initial of a word Here The Good Old Manor House Stood etc, the third number of the year is - - D-, although this stone was erected a long time ago, I believe it’s a folly but some of the villagers would disagree with me on that .

Your fourth co-ords are N54 19 470 W001 18 050 Now back track to the road and walk down past the church, this is All Saints, a plain chapel of ease completely rebuilt in 1812 by Fowler Hicks Esq. the lord of the manor at the time (he also put the stone in the field) and extended in 1878, it has just been refurbished and well worth a look in, it is unlocked throughout the day. Your fourth co-ords will bring you to a bench at the top of the green, here you will find two dates the fourth number of the first date is E ___E
Over the road is the Gold Cup public house this got its name from one of the country’s first race courses on top of the moors to the east , the race is still run at York every year.

Proceed down the green to N 54 19 477 W001 18 107 you will pass the oak tree planted by the Siltons & Kepwick guides in the early 60s. In front of you is Silton Hall this was a boys school in 1700s and you can still see the bell on the right of the roof, although it has been altered a lot since then and now is the home to the estate owner, the co-ords will bring you to the last cottage in the village or the first depending on which way you come into the village, this is known as the gardeners cottage, there are two dates only take notice of the top one, first number in the date is F, third number is G and the fourth number when 4 is subtracted from that number is H. F9G-4=H

N54 FB DCG W001 FA HED
Now walk back up the village to that public footpath sign and put in your co-ords for the cache. This cache is our cache box we got in our Wales mega presentation pack, I hope you enjoyed your walk around the village I was born and brought up in. Dave
