Geocache Description:

This geocache is located in Fred Johnson park. The cache is a small peanut butter jar suitable for TBs and trade items. This is a family and kid friendly cache that should be an easy find for all users. In the winter this cache will probably be buried so keep that in mind if there's a lot of snow on the ground. Also, the FTF prize is a toonie tapped to the lid. If you want to learn about Fred Johnson then keep reading below but otherwise happy hunting!

Fred Johnson lived and grew up in the Guildwood area. Later in Fred's life, he was a part of the Executive of the Guildwood Village Community Association (GVCA). In his time serving the GVCA, Fred founded the Scarborough Girl's hockey team, East Scarborough's 1st youth drop-in and the Guildwood Indian football team. For all his hard work, Fred was awarded an Honourary Life Membership after serving about 20 years in the GVCA and was named citizen of the year in Scarborough in 1978.

In 1988 Fred jumped into City politics and was elected in Ward 7. He served the City of Scarborough until amalgamation in 1997. During Fred’s time as Councilor he served many boards and comities and helped build a strong community. Unfortunately Fred past away so in his memory the city of Toronto decided to name this park you are about to visit after him. For more information on Fred Johnson please visit the related web page.

Hope you enjoy the cache and happy geocaching to all!

Congratulations to GeoNos for his first ever FTF!
