Regular sized tub tooked away at the side of the footpath, on your way into the lovely woodland area of Irby Quarry, Royden Park and Thurstaston Common.
When originally place the caches contained plenty of little swaps so please ensure you swap ad give others a chance to grab some swag.
Apologies if the coords are alightly scewif but there is heavy tree cover and it was wet when I placed the cache. I did my best for an average reading but we all know that technology sometimes doesnt work in your favour.
The name Irby is believed to be of Viking origin, meaning; "the settlement of the Irish".
This cache went live the same day as the IRBY QUARRY _ CITO EVENT (visit link) during which the geocachers who attended helped to make a brilliant improvement to the Quarry along with the Wirral Rangers and a group of local climbers.
On arrival the Quarry was full of burnt and dead Gorse bushes and the volunteers where tasked with clearing this away. It was a long day working from 10 until 3 but everyone worked hard and cleared vast areas of burnt scrub before the Ranger finally called the work day to an end. While the majority of volunteers where clearing the scrub a few also set about litter picking and making refreshments for those working hard.
In a controlled manner the piles of wood, which had been created over the day, where burnt leaving no rubbish in the area.
A Big thanks to the Wirral Rangers for helping set this event up and allowing us to help and a Bi thanks to all the volunteers who turned up to help out.
