This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been disabled for some time and as the owner has not repaired it I am archiving it.
Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."
If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Geocache Description:

for the best approach and a place to park is in the layby on the side of the road south of St. Oswalds church at heavenfield. N55° 01.145 W002° 06.041 a information board here will give you all the info on King Oswald and the battle.

A word of warning the traffic on this road seem to travel at high speeds and you need to cross the road here to the lane running down past the cottage, If you have the kids with you , keep a hold of them till you get across the road. Follow the lane south past the cottage and go through the gate , keep walking up the bank and go through the next gate you will see two footpath signs here turn left and head for the the pile of stones on your left and keep walking along a track made by farm tractors you will come to a way marker, and this is where I went off the footpath to the Crag . its up to your gps or map now and the cache is hidden along the face of the crag behind a pile of stones and cannot be seen without removing them. a 3lt.

if you go here at dusk there is a drop of about 2m. over the edge ( its also there during the day) you can come back the otherway by heading north east over the stile and over to your left is a stile ladder over a wall

carry on over the field and you will come to two large steel gates, go throught them and head north up the lane , this will bring you back onto the Military road , turn left and back to the parking place about half mile to the west.At the farm at the top of the bank you can walk down a footpath in the field and come out at the gate at the parking place, by walking this path you are walking the route of Hadrians wall. Best wishes and good luck
