LOOK FOR OUR NEW BANNER!
I love the fall colors and this is my favorite time of year for
hiking. We have reserved the Dry Creek Group Camp Grounds at
Whiskeytown National Recreation Area from Friday 10/14th - Sunday
10/16th. Check out is at Noon on Sunday. There will be four guided
group Waterfall Hikes, a Safety Talk with Smokey Bear, & a
Discussion on Invasive Plants.

You do not have to go on all of the hikes or stay the whole
weekend. Let us know if you'll be popping in with your 'Will
Attend'.
I will guide the first hike to Crystal
Creek. After that I will be working back at the camp site to get
ready for meals and activities. There will be plenty to do if you
want to help or just relax. I do recommend at least one hike since
the view is worth it! There will be a Four person Pedal Boat in the
cove if you want to go out or you can bring your own water
craft.
We will be hiking about 12 miles this weekend. The hikes will
range from Easy to Strenuous. Dress for the weather and come
prepared. If you do not think you can make it on all the hikes I
suggest teaming up with a Geo Buddy. If you do not want to camp you
can join us each day for the scheduled events but you must leave by
10pm each night.
On the last day, any one that has made it through the weekend
and on all four waterfall hikes will receive a special prize. We
will also be releasing a Wherigo Cache for you to nab after the
event. FTF for the Wherigo Cache will be awarded at the end of the
event as well. If this event has a good turn out we may do this
once a year with different activities for each year.
~ CAMPING: We will be at site #2 at the end of the
peninsula. There is only room for 50 over night campers at the camp
grounds. You will need to bring your own tent, sleeping bags, wood
and camping supplies. There is an RV site near by if you would like
to come with an RV or primitive camp sites if we get too full. You
can check the Related Web Site at the top of the page for fees.
Generators and Portable showers are not allowed. There are showers
near by at Brandy Creek Beach.
Within The Facility There Are: BBQ Grills, Bear Boxes, Tables,
Toilets, Drinking Water, & Fire Rings
~ FOOD: We will be providing some meals. They will be
listed below. If you would like to bring some thing to the event,
we are looking for Sodas, Chips, Cookies, & Cleaned, Uncut
Fruit to add to the meals. I suggest bringing simple and easy to
make food for the other meals. Your going to be tired.
I will have a BBQ and fire pit ready
at each meal and you are welcome to use it.
~ PARKING: There are parking fees for the NRA and they
are listed below.
***All vehicles are now required to display a use pass.
Whiskeytown day use pass costs $5.00, weekly use pass costs $10,
annual pass costs $25. The following passes are accepted in lieu of
a Whiskeytown pass: Lassen Volcanic Annual Pass, Golden Age and
Access Passports, America the Beautiful Annual, Senior and Access
