Geocache Description:


PIG IRON is the intermediate product of smelting iron ore with a high carbon fuel.It has a very high carbon content so is very brittle. "P.I." is typically poured out of the blast furnace trough...(I love that term..hee hee!) and transferred to a steel mill.
Pig iron was used as a ballast on NASA's 747 shuttle carrier aircraft.
