I long to be a fly fisherman! I strive for perfection! So for the past two years I have taken the Kelly Creek Fly caster's Women's Clinic and attended their annual camp out on the North Fork of the Clearwater River, near Kelly Creek.
We spent three days fishing the North Fork, Kelly Creek and Moose Creek. It was a wonderful weekend. With help from my mentor I was able to land two cut throat trout! The next day Ferrets and I went out on Moose Creek. As they say, the fishing was good but the catching was not! Many fish were jumping after teeny tiny flies swarming just above the surface. I changed flies 4 times but was unable to match the tiny pattern. Ferrets had no better luck! (I bought some # 16 flies today for next time!) One fish even had the audacity to jump so close to me that he got me wet! But the day was spent with the love of my life in a beautiful setting, surrounded by God's handiwork! Who could ask for more?
Combining two of my hobbies: fly fishing and geocaching seems natural. So as Ferret's and I made our way back to town we looked for places to put out caches. Since we had the toy hauler behind the Geo-Dodge, one of the requirements was a wide space along the road long enough for us to stop without putting our lives at peril. We found this beautiful spot and we hope to share it with you!
