Geocache Description:

This cache is one of twelve participating caches
in The Crystal Lake Park District
"90 Years of Fun Geocoin Challenge"!

Wild Geranium
Geranium maculatum

Veteran Acres park is roughly 160 acres in size. In this park you can explore three very distinct habitats, prairie, wetland, and woodland. Each has its own unique aspects, and all can be beautiful in their own way. However, given a choice, I will always pick a woodland when I want to spend some time in nature.

Solomon's Seal
Polygonatum commutatum

This cache will bring you to one of my favorite areas in VA Woods. Here you can watch the seasons progress as the plants change from wild geranium in the spring, to solomon’s seal in the summer, and white snakeroot heralding the coming of fall. In the winter, with all of the plants gone, you can often spot deer walking quietly among the oaks.

White Snakeroot
Ageratina altissima

Please tread lightly as you seek this cache. Believe me, you, and all who come after, will be rewarded.
