Geocache Description:

Welcome to the fourth annual Florida Finders Fest Chili Cook Off. This event is from 5:00pm to 7:30 pm. For all you hot-shot, brag about your chili maken cooks, now’s the time to put up or shut up! It’s pretty simple; make your best pot of Chili for the judging. Last year’s cook off had record breaking participation, with gallons of home made chili being enthusiastically consumed by a mess of happy cachers. So far there has never been a repeat first place winner. The judges are different every year and no one knows who they are but me. (Just to keep the bribery down to a minimum.) If you are arriving Friday afternoon for the Finders Fest, make it at home and bring it with you, just make sure it’s hot for the judges. A bowl of cold chili isn’t going to win! If you are coming in Thursday or early Friday morning, cooking chili over an open fire…well that would be more than expectable and just plain torture for anyone with in smelling distance! No matter how you make it, just have it ready to go by 5:00pm Friday and make enough for any “lurking hungry samplers”. There will be prizes for the first, second and third place winners and a lot of happy cachers enjoying the “spoils of war”! There is also the coveted People’s Choice Award. Anything goes on that one; bribery, vote buying, hanging chads, etc. The Geo Piñata filled with goodies for the kids and grown ups will follow right after the awards are given out. A lot - lot stuff into this year’s piñata…..hmmmmmm?

Now for the official stuff:
All are welcome at this event – Chefs as well as Tasters. Even if you’re out wondering in the forest, come on by for the fun. You can cook your chili before getting to the camp ground or cook it once ya get there, just have it ready for the judging by 5:00pm. Last year there were a few problems with electrical power at the pavilion, but I’ve been told there have been a few up grades since last year. Each entrée will be assigned a number before judging, hopefully this will keep it honest and the Judges won’t know whose is whose! Each bowl of chili will be judged on flavor, consistency, aroma, and heat (remember, not everyone likes blazing chili, but it should make ya kinda warm inside). Winners will be announced at the end of the event at 7:30pm.!

The Particulars:
You may garnish your chili any way you see fit, i.e.: onions, shredded cheese, etc. No Canned Crap Allowed! No store bought stuff either! No road kill or mystery meat. Gator tail is not considered mystery meat in these here parts and is allowed. Only Chief Talking Bull will be allowed to use buffalo meat. Scores will be tallied by yours truly and winners announced right after judging.
