On the East Hampton Airline Trail Revisited
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions

This cache is located on the historic Rapallo Viaduct on the East Hampton Airline Trail and replaces the previous evil nano cache which once resided here. Built in 1873, this viaduct used to be a bridge which spanned 1,380 feet over Flat Brook which is 60 feet below. As time passed, the freight trains got heavier and so in 1913, the bridge was filled in to handle the weight. This is why there is a steep drop on each side covered with trap rock. Imagine how much earth and rocks it required to fill this in!! This cache is located ON the trail and regardless of what your GPS tells you, please be careful and do not attempt to climb down. Bring a pencil or pen and enjoy the spectacular view!
Congratulations to Whiskey 333 on FTF!!
