Geocache Description:

Samarra's beach from a perfect angle. Path particularly dificult for cars, it is best to do walking. There is a parking for cars few meters away from the downhill to the beach.

Near the place of Tojeira, on the northwest coast of Sintra's district, is situated in a small cove where a stream that flows into the plain peasant plows S. João das Lampas is hiding the little-known Samarra's beach. Besides the beauty of the small sandy beach, bordered by a single mill, few know that the top of the rocky outcrop at the top there was a Southern beach town for nearly four thousand years - the town of Pedranta - certainly one of the first region of Sintra. In excavations carried out in 1948 were found various objects in stone, bone and ceramic debris used by its former inhabitants. On top of Samarra north of the beach was also discovered human bones in a deposit of more than 100 individuals.
