In 1969, the exploits of Butch Cassidy and his outlaw gang were immortalised in George Roy Hill’s Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The opening frames of the film state “most of what follows is true.” This is not completely correct, as much of the film is changed from the true story to make a better plot, but overall it is a realistic interpretation of Butch Cassidy’s final months. This cache is named in honour of Paul Newman’s portrayal of Butch, and to the great story of the West’s most successful outlaw. The cache contains an image of Newman in his role.
