Geocache Description:


In August 2011, an extension of Garrard Road from North Montgomery Street to Old West Point Road in Starkville was opened. Full story

In conjunction with Reed Road and Pat Station Road, Garrard Road and its extension enables travel from the Highway 12 bypass all the way to Highway 25.

The extension is also the first new road construction in Starkville with a sidewalk along its full length, in accordance with 2009’s sidewalk ordinance.

This series of caches has been placed along the sidewalk on the new Garrard Road extension and I hope you enjoy them. The walking distance from one end to the other is a nice 1/2 mile stroll one way (approximately).

Though I am unsure if it is public parking, there is a gravel road (shown as Pilkington Park Road on Google Maps) just north of the east end of the extension that you can probably park along to begin your walk (there is no parking available along the route, so walking is your best bet). If anyone runs into any trouble parking at the supplied parking coordinates, please notify me immediately.

Finally, there are private residences within sight of most of these caches, both on the north and south sides of the road. Though you would probably be OK, I would suggest not attempting the series after dark so as not to draw unwanted attention. Cache at your own risk in this regard.
