Il “Fungo” di Piana Crixia
Il ‘Fungo’, alto una quindicina di metri, è formato da un gigantesco masso di roccia ofiolitica sorretto da una colonna di conglomerato (roccia sedimentaria costituita da ciottoli di varie dimensioni, cementati da materiale più fine). Il masso ha protetto dal dilavamento la porzione di conglomerato sottostante mentre tutt'intorno il terreno veniva progressivamente asportato dall'erosione.

Mushroom di Piana Crixia
The fifteen-meter high ‘Mushroom’ is formed by a giant boulder of ophiolitic rock supported by a conglomerate column (sedimentary rock made by pebbles of different dimensions joined by thinner material). The boulder protected the underlying conglomerate column by washing out, while the surrounding ground was progressively swept away by erosion.

Der ‚Pilz’ von Piana Crixia
Der fünfzehn Meter hohe ‚Pilz’ besteht aus einem riesigen Felsblock aus Konglomeraten (Ablagerungsgesteine oder Schichtgesteine). Entstanden ist der Fungo di Piana Crixia wahrscheinlich durch die als Regenschutz fungierende Gesteinsmasse, die heute den Hut des Pilzes bildet, und die die unterstehende Sedimentgesteinsschicht vor der Erosion schützt. Letztere bildet heute den Stil des Pilzes.
