Meiji era, Looking for Western culture, a new outer wall covered with the original wooden building was imitating the Western-style building.
This architectural style "Signboard type Architecture" are called.

明治時代、西洋文化を求めて、元の木造建築に新たな外壁を被せ、洋風建築風にリフォームしました。
通り側だけをリフォームするこの方式は「看板建築」と呼ばれています。
