Geocache Description:

A 2 mile walk from Thornhill village to the Muir Dam. The local community (TCT Access group) has worked hard to make sure this right of way has been retained. This is now one of Stirling Council's Core Paths, although don't be fooled into thinking it is going to be a tarmac motorway of a path.
Boots / wellies definitely required!

Cessintully - from medieval form Seisgeann Tulaich meaning bog of the hillock.
The name became Seskentuly in 1330 and in 1509 is charted as Ville de Cessintully.
Incidentally, Tulaich - hillock or MOUND came to signify a place of assembly. It is unknown whether this applied here.
All that you are likely to see assembled here today are the local cows!!

The cache is on the path which runs to the burn between 2 farms - Braes of Cessintully and Whireston.
Because of livestock please keep any dogs under strict control. The stiles are not dog friendly but it is possible to avoid them by using gates and in one place dodging under the fence over the burn (assuming your dog likes water)

Enjoy the mud here :-)
