Revival of two older caches nearby. If you go around the perimeter, you will encounter some bushwhacking. The container has been moved and changed.
This location was built for the government in 1944 to counter the propaganda coming from overseas high-powered shortwave stations. It also was used extensively during The Cold War. Because of aging technology and budget cutbacks, the facility was shut down in the 1990s. The property and buildings were turned over to the local township and county governments to be converted into a park. The goal for the building is now a museum for radio.
The local amateur radio club has a station (WC8VOA) on premises, where they continue the tradition of beaming radio waves around the world. You might catch us on Saturday and Sundays, when the museum has an open house from 1:00 - 4:00pm.
The park already has some great facilities, including baseball, soccer, and other playing fields, as well as places for kite flying and other fun things. It even has a dog playground. Did I forget to mention Geocaching? There are a number of caches in the park and the general area.
