You are visiting the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Paris Ky.When caching please follow all caching rules for cemeteries. When you park at the cemetery look close to the cache site for a large monument with the name of "George" inscribed on it. There are small flat headstones in front of the large monument. The first on the left is the grave of James George Shea.
Mr. Shea was a volunteer firefighter in Winchester Ky. On October 16th 1950 the fire siren sounded for a possible fire at 111 Highland Street. Mr. Shea, the office manager for the Kentucky Utilities office in Winchester boarded the side of the fire truck, right dehind the driver. The truck travled up Lexingtion Ave. towards the fire. As the truck made the right turn onto Highland Street, Mr. Shea lost his grip falling from the fire truck and stricking his head on the street. He was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries.
In 2005 Mr. Shea's name was added to the Kentucky Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Frankfort and a plaque was placed at the Ecton Fire Station #1 in Winchester.
