Whitewood Cemetery Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

onecrazycanadian: Hi,

The low health score on this cache has remained below 60 since our last contact. I see no sign of any maintenance being done to correct this and I have had no response from the owner since my last contact. Due to the lack of response I have no idea if any corrective action has been taken. Consequently I am archiving the cache at this time. Under directions from HQ, if the cache was archived for maintenance issues, it will not be unarchived. If you wish to replace it you will have to do so with a new listing.

Thanks

Geocache Description:

A small camoed pill bottle containing a log and a few small trade items.

This hide takes you to the Whitewood cemetery, Whitewood being in eastern Saskatchewan along the trans-Canada hiway. The town was established in the 1880's by the French Counts of St. Hubert who failed in their attempt to build a life on the prairies similar to that of the French nobility of Europe. The CPR main line was build through Whitewood in 1882 but it was not until 1892 that the town officially became incorporated. The name of Whitewood was chosen because a bluff of white poplars were growing nearby on an otherwise treeless prairie. The town was the location of the first sitting of the Supreme Court of Eastern Assiniboia as well as the first secret ballot election of the Northwest Territories in 1894.
