Geocache Description:

[LAT]
Dotajās koordinātēs slēpnis neatrodas.
Lai to atrastu, Tev būs mazliet jāpakavējas Rīgas vēsturē.

Irbīte gāja bojā Otrā Pasaules kara beigās, no nejaušas šķembas aviācijas uzlidojumā Rīgai.

ko var gan uzzināt arhīvos, gan izrēķināt: X=E^2–C un Y=A*B*C–B*E

Cache hiden in the centre of Riga. To find a cache, You have to visit a monument of Artist at the given coordinates, then make a little walk in past of Riga.

Voldemars Irbe, also known as Barefooted Irbite (1893-1944) was one of the most prominent representatives of the Latvian painting realism. He painted landscapes, mostly suburbs, genre scenes, as well as portraits. His paintings may be characterized by an expressive composition and very colorful solution. He worked with charcoal, pencil, and specially liked pastel crayons, his favorites.

Irbite was known for his eccentricity as well, as he walked barefooted through the year, with a long uncombed beard and hair, dressed in a black robe. He became an integral part of the city’s inter-war landscape, in remarkable contrast to the second of the brightest artists of that period, a ‘jack-a-dandy’ Carl Padegs (Mystery).

His creed was against shooting people, and therefore he was recognized mentally disordered by the Military Medical Commission. Also the Artist was a vegetarian and never used alcoholic beverages. He washed once a year on Easter.

Irbite considered his duty was to take from the world as little as possible and give back as much as possible. The artist revealed his world’s visions in 26 publications, all issued by himself spending his own monies.

Irbite had stated once, that he worked on one drawing only as long as he could stand on one leg. The artist used to choose a selfmade cardboard - black or gray - as a layer for his pastels. Sometimes it was roof felt and even sandpaper, so as to obtain a special color-glow through the quartz-grains. He gave out his drawings for a little fee or even for free and now they are almost in every Latvian family.

Irbite died at the end of the World War II. He was killed by a random splinter during the bombing of Riga city and was buried in the St. Michael's Cemetery. A monument was raised in his honor next to the Daile Theatre at 75, Brivibas Str. (Sculptor A.Varpa, Arhitect A.Heinrihson, ).

You have to find artist monument in Riga, put there a flower (plz photolog!) and discretely observe some information, important to find a final location: count of letters on the memorial plaque at 1.line (A), 2.line (D) and last line (B), address of nearest art temple (C) and age of Artist (E).

To reach a final location, You must find a key:
N57.X E26.Y, where X=E^2–C and Y=A*B*C–B*E

If You are to lazy make this easy calculation, You can use as a key a birth place of Artist :)

The container is a solid size box for all kind of TB and other exchange things. Unfortunately some geocachers have not been fair and grabbed TB without logging.
Good luck!
