Geocache Description:

Coordinates will lead you to the bridge, but not to the cache. Cache is hidden in the middle of the bridge on railing. To find it all you need to do, is just to count all railing columns. And then you will know the exact location of cache. Did I told you everything? Hmm... I guess that I forgot to mention on which side of bridge you have to count them... Oh well... Try to guess :)

ANTAKALNIS BRIDGE

Antakalnis bridge (first bridge in this place) where build during interwar period, Poland occupation times. The purpose of this bridge was by using narrow rails to transport military equipment further into Šilas street dislocated bunkers and for pedestrians.
At the Second World War time it was closed for pedestrians. In 1944 July 14 Germans SS battalion, led by Lieutenant Colonel V. Titel, demolished this bridge during windrow from Vilnius.

ŠILAS BRIDGE

Šilas bridge is a new bridge that was built instead of demolished one. It was finished in 1999. Its length is about 100 meters. The bridge is very simple. Construction of this bride started back in the Soviet union times. So as you can see the construction of this bridge took approximately a decade. But not because of builders fault. Bridge builders was in financial difficulties. When Lithuania regained its independence, similar problems have arisen in almost all sectors of the economy.
