WHY???
Highlands Hammock State Park is starting up a brand spankin' NEW
Geocaching program! OVER 100 GEOCACHES will be released in the park
the Wednesday before this event. Be sure to get your GPSr loaded up
and ready for a big day of caching in this BEAUTIFUL State
Park!
FOOD?
YES!
Breakfast:
**I couldn't find anyone interested in hosting a breakfast event
off site** INSTEAD we will have some baked goodies at the Kosove
pavilion to help you get going first thing. OR if you require a
large breakfast to start your day... pillage a fast food place
beforehand. ;-)
Lunch:
You're on your own! BUT there will be multiple vendors in the
picnic area as part of the CCC Fest.
DINNER: We will
start gathering for a POTLUCK dinner at the REC HALL at
5PM.

We will be at the KOSOVE PAVILION
from 9AM to 2PM.
At 2PM we will move up to the REC
HALL to begin setting up for DINNER.
ACTIVITIES:
We'll kick off
the day at 9AM with a MICRO
HUNT!
We will also
have a BUCK HUNT! This contest begins at 9AM and ends
at 5PM. Highlands Hammock State Park has agreed to let us
hide a LIFE SIZE BUCK DECOY in the park somewhere. If you
can produce a photo of yourself with the buck by dinnertime you
will win a special prize! Shade's Brigade (Corky and Susan) will
be with the logbook all day and must SEE the photo before 5PM.
If you are at Kosove at 9AM, when Hike & Seek begins, you will
get a special hint to aid in your
search.
Throughout the
day, we will have JUDGES looking at your name tag as you
sign the logbook for the event... Start getting creative now and
developing a new name tag because we will have an AWESOME
AWARD for the BEST NAME TAG. YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS
OUT ON THIS PRIZE! *T-Shirts DO NOT count as name tags! *And
NO, your fancy, trackable, magnetic, metal name tag DOES NOT
count!
There will also
be a 50/50 DRAWING and a PRIZE DRAWING. Local
businesses have donated some awesome prizes! And all proceeds from
ticket sales will go directly back to supporting the geocaching
program at Highlands Hammock. Tickets will be available throughout
the day and the drawing itself will take place during
DINNER.

OTHER
EVENTS:
What about FRIDAY NIGHT? If you're getting into
town late Friday, there will be an offsite event called Park
& Eat Before Hike & Seek. I know a lot of people are
interested in doing some urban caching around Sebring. So, grab a
light and we'll cache at night! Be sure to log your "will attends"
on that cache page as it is a separate event. The GC code on that
is: GC36ABH.
Did
you say S'MORES?? We will be releasing NIGHT CACHES
after dinner on SATURDAY NIGHT! You DO NOT have to be a
camper to attend this event. In between letting groups to go find
the night caches, we will have camp fire. Please consider bringing
alternative desert options if you're not interested in scarfing
down on s'mores! The Campfire Circle is a separate event,
hosted by BabyRuthie - be sure to log your "will attends" on her
cache page. It's

What
about SUNDAY? There will be a CITO event on Sunday,
November 6th at 9AM in the Picnic Area. The GC Code on
that is: GC3558J - Be sure to add it to your weekend plans!!
It's the least we can do to help give back to the
park.
What about
LODGING?
Highlands
Hammock State Parks has plenty of camping options. Just be sure to
make your reservations soon! If you reserve a campsite and want to
post your campsite number here, let me know and I will post it.
Pets are allowed in the park and camping. However, they are NOT
allowed on boardwalks (this is a park rule and prevents Rover from
becoming
gator-bait)
