I used to come horse-riding through the commonage occasionally, so
this is another spot that has some very good memories. It's a
popular spot for horse riders and people walking their dogs, but is
not very busy and the cache site is well-hidden so being observed
by muggles should not be a problem.
While the gate is usually locked to prevent horses and stock
from escaping, this is a public area. The fence is very easy
to climb through, and there is a good network of paths through the
area.
The cache site is a little overgrown and rocky and will take
some clambering, unless you pick your path very
carefully!
There is a small dam, and the swathes of wild flowers were
looking beautiful when the cache was planted in the early spring
(try not to trample them, and stick to the paths when you're
here).
The cache was placed in conjunction with the "Let's Cache
Grahamstown" event (GC31FE7).
