Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Clipstone Circular.

This cache was placed to coincide with the original emCamp 2011 event.

It was originally set by niknrich. Many thanks! :)

The name of this farm gives a clue to the original use of this land: it was originally part of the Duke of Portland's flood meadows, more information on which can be found on the cache page GC34N2H

The field next to the cache was part of the Great Pond of Clipstone, which was vital to the village as it provided water to the mills and fish for the villagers.

It dated back to as early as 1194 but by 1766 it had halved in size and by 1830 it had been completely drained.
