An Ammo box hidden in traditional Geocaching fashion.
This is one of my favorite places along this road. I have stopped here many times to take photos from near the cache site, and the area where the cache is hidden makes for striking black and white pictures. I always knew I'd hide a cache here!
...AND that's where the story starts!!...
I placed this cache in 2010, lost the coord's and then didn't make it back to the cache site before winter. After a busy spring and summer I made it back almost one year to the day of placement, got the coord's (again!), saw the site was just as I had left it the year before, and the contents nice and dry! I wrote a little note updating the log book and re-hid it once again. I made SURE I had the coord's before heading down the mountain!

PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE ALL THE WAY TO THE CACHE SITE! The alpine grasses and flowers will be damaged. It takes many years for nature to fix what a human can ruin in seconds. There is a flat area to pull off the road at the bottom of the knoll. Park here and walk up the hill. During late spring,summer and early fall the ground is covered with wildflowers! Take the time to enjoy them.
After finding and replacing the cache, take a look around you. There are miles and miles of views in every direction! On a clear day it seems as if you can see forever.
This cache is rated a 2.5-star terrain only because of the road conditions (the walk from car to cache is only a 1.5). Depending on the time of year and weather, this could become a 5-star terrain road!!
This road may not be passable in winter. May need a 4x4 in spring due to mud, exposed rocks, or rutting. My Subaru has easily made the trip many times summer through fall on various years.
