Tim10966: This one has had a great career. It's been replaced a couple times. I'm now going to open the space up for a new hide 😊

Geocache Description:

Phrenology: The study of the shape and protuberances of the skull. Calavera: The Spanish word for skull

Mount Calavera at 513 feet tall is not really a mountain, but a 22 million year old volcanic plug. After 22 million years of erosion, the plug is all that is left behind of the vent and feeding system of an extinct volcano. The early inhabitants of this area must have thought that this feature resembled a skull, thus the name. The skull has all kinds of protuberances on it and now it has another one. Can you find it? The cache nearest the top of the skull was recently archived and it just doesn't seem right not to have one there. So, here it is. Due to the locations of the surrounding caches, this one is not at the top, but close to it. With not much real estate to work with, it is a basic cache just off the main trail. Although I have listed it as a micro, it does have room for a small TB. This is a popular trail to the top so please use stealth when necessary and please hide the cache the best you can. Please remember to bring a writing implement.
