This trail is dedicated to some of the Mississippi State sports greats that have passed through campus over the years.
RAFAEL PALMERIO - Baseball - 1983-85
• Former Major League Baseball first baseman and left fielder.
• All-American at Mississippi State University before being drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1985.
• 2 years for the Cubs (1986–1988),
• Texas Rangers (1989–1993, 1999–2003)
• Baltimore Orioles(1994–1998, 2004–2005).
• MLB All-Star Team four times
• Won the Gold Glove three times.
• Member of the exclusive 500 home run club and the 3,000 hit club – only fourth player in history to be a member of both
• Played in 2,831 major league games, the most by any player who has never played in the World Series
