The "typical" Marquee for the now-closed Showcase Cinemas Theater Chain.

Showcase Cinemas was a chain of Movie Theaters owned and operated across the country.  Many of these replaced older, aging "movie houses" or Drive-In Theaters (as this one did here) and usually had Multiple Screens (at least 6) and were some of what was considered the "Multi-plex" type of Theater.

Front of the Showcase

The Showcase Auburn Hills 1-14 opened on December 8, 1989, after the much-beloved Blue Sky Drive-In was demolished.  After only a few short years in operation, the theater closed in January 2002, due to a downturn in business caused by many economic factors.  Some of those factors included many of the nearby Theater Complexes that were newer had even MORE screens, and offered even more amenities (some considered "luxurious" in fact) than these could offer, even though these weren't that old to begin with.  Some of those "luxuries" included plush seating, cup-holders in the armrests, and Stadium-style seating.  Many of these "older" locations felt like "shoe boxes with green rocking chair seats" and even though they had been built recently, weren't as appealing and so many closed due to the lack of being profitable to their owners.

Refreshment Counter

Some of these locations have been re-developed into other things, either Retail or Residential (apartment) space, and some have been just left-alone and are abandoned.

This area is unique in that for the better part of the last 60+ years, it has had some type of Cinematic-related function and awaits its next incarnation into something else.

Enjoy the hunt as much as i've enjoyed the hide. :)

Please be aware of your surroundings and the muggle population that is ever-present around here.

The Cache is designed to bring you here... and give you some history on a piece of the areas cinematic past.

IF you have any more information or details on this theatre,
please email me and i will include it in the description.

Thank you.
