Kananaskis Summits - Mount Tyrwhitt is located on the continental divide at the top of mount Tyrwhitt in Kananaskis. If you are at the summit, you are standing with one foot in British Columbia and one foot in Alberta.
Summit views
From the summit you will have a fantastic view over the Kananaskis lakes to the west as well as Mount Rae, the Pocaterra cirque and many others to the east. On a good day you can even see many "11.000-ers".
Looking west from the summit is BC.
Looking east from the summit is Alberta
Container
Since so many caches on summits are are small or matchstick containers, I decided to place a 30-cal ammo can for your finding pleasure. It is stocked with glow sticks, rescue blankets and batteries. Please trade only when needed and keep the contents useful for hikers
The hike
The hike to this cache starts at the Highwood Pass, the highest paved road in Canada. In autumn you approach through golden Larches which makes it one of the most scenic short routes in the Canadian Rockies. Along the way you can pick up several good caches including the "Grizzly Col" cache. From there on the ascent to Tyrwhitt starts.

The Window
Adding to the popularity of Tyrwhitt is a most unique natural arch feature called the “Window” found on its east ridge. The moderate scramble to this cache takes you right by this feature.

N.B. Visitors are reminded that Kananaskis Country is bear country - please take the proper precautions when travelling in bear country by carrying bear spray and making lots of noise - thanks for being cautious in the backcountry!
