Der Frankfurter Flughafen, auch bekannt als FRA oder EDDF, ist mehr
als ein Verkehrsdrehkreuz. Er ist eine riesige, lebendige Stadt mit
Supermärkten, Restaurants und sogar einem Krankenhaus. Neben
Flugzeugen verkehren hier auch Züge, denn der Flughafen ist nicht
nur an den Regionalverkehr angeschlossen, sondern besitzt einen
eigenen ICE Bahnhof! Zehntausende Menschen arbeiten im, am und um
den Flughafen herum. Über 50 Millionen Passagiere verzeichnete der
Flughafen 2010 bei fast 500 Tausend Flugbewegungen.
Das erste Vielflieger Event war ein voller Erfolg, daher soll es
weitergehen. Mit dem Platzangebot kamen wir gut zurecht, allerdings
könnte es etwas gemütlicher sein. Deshalb ziehen wir fürs zweite
Event um, und zwar ins "Hooters" im Bereich C des Terminal 1. Ich
habe die Location geprüft und sie ist durchaus familientauglich!
Wieder sind alle Geocacher eingeladen - ob Vielreisende oder nicht
- zum Essen, Trinken und um sich über das Cachen in Deutschland und
der restlichen Welt zu unterhalten.
Treffpunkt ist am
18. Oktober
2011 um
13:00 (MESZ,
11:00 UTC) im
Restaurant "Hooters"
in der "Airport City Mall" unter Terminal 1, Bereich C
(Kellerebene). Zur Zeit ist für 15-20 Personen reserviert. Sollte
mehr Bedarf entstehen werde ich die Reservierung anpassen. Die Lage
des Events findet ihr auf
einem PDF auf der letzten Seite unten links
(gegenüber vom Supermarkt). Das Geocaching Logo wird euch vor Ort
zeigen, wo ihr richtig seid. Das Logbuch liegt bis mindestens 15:00
aus.
Da das Thema Parken beim letzten Treffen aufkam: Es ist möglich,
aber sehr teuer (es waren 4 Euro/Stunde im Gespräch). Die Anbindung
an die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel ist jedoch sehr gut. Wenn man
mit der S-Bahn anreist (Haltestelle "Flughafen") kommt man fast
direkt am Austragungsort des Events aus dem Tiefbahnhof. Auch die
Anreise mit dem Bus ist problemlos möglich (Haltestelle "Terminal
1").

Frankfurt airport, also known as FRA or EDDF, is more than a hub.
It is a huge, living city with supermarkts, restaurants and even a
hospital. Not just airplanes, but also trains run to and from the
airport, which is not only connected to local transit but also
boasts an ICE (intercity express) train station! Tens of thousands
of people work at and around the airport. Over 50 million
passengers passed through in 2010 on almost 500 thousand aircraft
movements.
The first frequent traveler event was a great success, so it will
be repeated in October. There was enough seating space in
September, but it could have been a bit more comfortable.
Therefore, the October event will be held in the "Hooters"
restaurant under area C of Terminal 1. Again, all geocachers are
invited - whether frequent travelers or not - for food, drink and
conversation about caching in Germany and the rest of the
world.

C (basement level). I have made an initial reservation for
15-20 people and will adjust it as required. You can find the spot
in
a PDF file on the last page (bottom left,
across from the supermarkt). On location, the geocaching logo will
show you that you found it. The logbook will be present until at
least 15:00.
As there was some discussion regarding parking at the last event:
It is possible, but quite expensive (about 4 Euros/hour). However,
the airport and thus the event are well reachable by public
transportation. If you take the S-Bahn (station "Flughafen"), you
leave the underground train station very close to the event
location. Traveling to the airport by bus (bus stop "Terminal 1")
is also possible.
