Geocache Description:

Cache 8 - "Bicentenary Wagon". The last of a series of caches located on the Portreath Tramroad (Coast to Coast Trail) between Scorrier and Portreath. Easy terrain as the tramroad is a popular cycle trail which covers the 17.5km journey from Portreath on the north coast to Devoran on the south coast of Cornwall.

You are looking for a 35mm film container which contains a log book and geocaching instructions for muggles. You will need to bring a pen / pencil.

The Portreath Tramroad is one of many of the trails that closely follows the tramway and railway routes once used to transport ore and vital supplies to and from the area's many tin and copper mines to ports such as Devoran and Portreath. Coal was transported from the ships at Portreath en-route from the south wales valleys to fuel the steam engines and Tin/Copper taken back to the docks to transport all over the world, with most of the copper heading to Swansea (Copperopolis).

The Mineral Tramways Heritage Project is a £6 million Regeneration Project. It is managed by Cornwall Council and funded by Objective One, the South West Regional Development Agency, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Parish and Town Councils in the Project area.
