It has been brought to my attention that the Charles C. Deam Wilderness area now prohibits geocaching.

Geocache Description:

Not far from the Grubb Ridge Parking area the Old Blue Diamond Trail splits off from the Grubb Ridge Trail. It then follows a ridge before descending down into the Axsom Branch Valley where it meets the Axsom Branch Trail. From there you can continue further on the Blue Diamond or head south back to parking on the Axsom for a moderate length loop.

As you walk, here and there you'll see blue paint on trees marking the old trail.

A short distance after the turn onto the Blue Diamond we've hidden a 50 cal ammo can near the trail. Following the example set by Cache Commando, there's an old single-serving Gatorade bottle that was found a few feet away inside with the cache. Like they say, once trash gets old enough it's an artifact and that bottle is definitely getting old.

Cache contains a few tradables and toys. Enjoy the walk!
