Lomøya Traditional Cache

N: Cachen ligger på Lomøya, en fin liten holme syd i Jonsvannet. Det er en kajakk-cache; hit kommer man sjøveien.
E: The cache is placed at Lomøya (Loon Island), a small island in the southern part of Jonsvannet. This is a paddle cache - you need to arrive "by the lake".
N: Cachen er en rund liten plastbox, inneholdende logg, en grønn elg-nøkkelring, og to små utenlandske mynter. Pass på å lukke ziploc-bagene etter logging. Øya er fin for en liten kafferast. Men vær obs i hekketida: det er en svær fuglekasse på øya (for laksand/kvinand?) og hvis den er bebodd bør man holde lav profil. Jeg tror det går an å vasse til øya, men har ingen aning om hvordan man skal komme seg dit landveien. Anbefales ikke.
Cachen inngår i en serie av kajakk-cacher på små øyer og nes syd i Jonsvannet. Listig har jo tidligere "cachet opp" alle større øyer i Jonsvannet, så vi tok for oss de små som var igjen... Fine de også! Jonsvannet er glimrende for padling, i kajakk eller kano. Trondheim Kajakk-klubb (TKK) har kajakker til utlån i vannet for medlemmer. Men lær deg egen- og kameratredning før du padler! (TKK har kurs)
E: The cache is a round plastic box, containing log, a green moose keyring, and two small coins. Make sure to close ziploc-bags after logging. The island is well suited for a cup of coffee and a snack. But take care during the bird breeding season: there's a huge nest box in one of the trees (for goosander or goldeneye). If it's occupied you need to keep a low profile. I think it's possible to wade to the islet, but I have no idea how to get there on the "mainland", so not recommended.
The cache is one in a series of paddle (kayak) caches in the southern part of Jonsvannet. Listig has previously "cached" all the major islands in the lake, so we had to focus on the smaller islets that remained. They're nice spots well worth a visit as well. Jonsvannet is excellent for kayaking. The Trondheim Kayak Club (Trondheim Kajakk-klubb TKK) has kayaks available for use on the lake by members. But make sure you know how to rescue yourself and fellow kayakers before you paddle along - if you don't, TKK runs courses.
