Lookout Morgan! Traditional Cache
Southern Cross Caching: This is a great location for a cache, unfortunately I don’t get up here quite as often anymore and with the cache ‘going missing’ regularly, it is with reluctance that it’s time to go for this one.
Thanks to all the finders over the years.

Morgan is anoth of the towns I reglarly visit as part of my employment, and of course to catch up with friends.
The cache is a small container hiding in a simple place with wonderful views of the towns lifeline in late eighties. It contains a logbook, pencil amd the usual things.
The port of Morgan, was one of the busiest South Australian Murray River ports in it’s hey day.
Situated 165 km north-east of Adelaide by road and 315km by water from the river's entrance to Lake Alexandrina, the town became a stopping point for overlanders bringing cattle to and from South Australia, and a place where steamers could collect wood to feed their boilers.
The settlement boomed from 1878 when a railway was built from Adelaide to support the River Murray steamer trade and Morgan was proclaimed a town.
In the 1880s Morgan was one of the busiest river ports and became South Australia's second biggest port, after Port Adelaide.
The restored wharf you can see from the lookout used to accommodate gangs of employees who worked continuous shifts to unload the cargo of the riverboats in the high-water season. At its longest, the Morgan wharf was 168 meters in length.
Directly below you will see the Landseer Building, once a shipping agent's storehouse. The building is filled with a remarkable collection of old engines and wagons and a mural made from wool.
This historic railway station once handled an assortment of cargo and passengers transferring from river to rail and is now a museum of river and rail history.
Today Morgan is a popular holiday spot and the home port of many houseboats.
Enjoy the views and all the town of Morgan has to offer. Oh and of course happy hunting!
