Geocache Description:


Yoshikane Ashikaga built a carrier Buddhist temple in 1196, and worshiped Dainichi Buddha. This is an opening of Banna-ji Temple. Yoshiuji fixed temple buildings Buddhist monastery, the precincts, and assumed it a family temple of Ashikaga.
Fieldwork and a moat are used to the circumference, and there is the feature of the building of the samurai of the Kamakura era. Including the main hall of a Buddhist temple, a lot of buildings are appointed as important cultural property. A roof comes with an arched bridge in the south side, and it is a very rare building.
The Banna-ji Temple is called "Dainichi-sama" and becomes the citizen's oasis.

鑁阿寺(ばんなじ)は足利氏二代目の義兼が1196年、持仏堂を建て、大日如来を本尊として祀ったのが始まりとされています。三代目の義氏が堂塔伽藍、境内を整備して、足利氏の氏寺としました。
寺の周囲には土塁や掘が巡らされ、鎌倉時代の武士の館の面影が残ります。本堂をはじめ多くの建築物が重要文化財として指定され、南側にある太鼓橋は屋根がついている太鼓橋として珍しい橋です。
市民から「大日様」と親しまれ、憩いの場となっています。
