Kavros is situated along the National Road from Rethymnon to Chania, near to the little village Georgioupolis. About 25 years ago there were just a few houses, a kiosk where you could buy some water and a bus stop to bring you to Rethymnon or Chania. Now it’s a touristic place, with hotels, taverna’s and shops. It’s a good place to start trips to see the west of Crete, or to rest when you’re on your way from the west to the east or the opposite direction.

In the environment you’ll find the Lake of Kournas, the only place on Crete where you can swim in natural freshwater. It’s also nice to visit the picturesque village Georgioupolis. If you love to go to the beach, you’re lucky: Kavros is situated at a long sand beach. If the sea is calm, you can walk far in to it and still have the sand floor under your feet. Many people enjoy walking along the seaside. If it’s windy, you can maybe see some kitesurfers.

The cache is placed on private terrain and the owner knows the cache is there. The cache itself is a little box with a notebook in it and can contain coins and trackables. Enjoy it!
