Goosey Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

pinkpigredrat: This was the longest surviving of my Nottingham geocaches, thanks to those (esp Buzzzt) who have helped maintain it over the past few years (As a result of me not living in Nottingham anymore and struggling to do it myself.)

But it is time for it to go now. Thanks to the 124 finders over the years.

Pinkpigredrat.

Geocache Description:

NOTE: Cache is available 24/7 but I wouldn't recommend doing it at night, it's not a particularly safe place after dark. During the day it is a pleasant area for a walk and you'll see more as you walk round, so it's best to go then!

The coordinates above are NOT for the final container, they will lead you to where the first clue of this multi-cache is located.

Once a year at the beginning of October the site hosts the Goose Fair (visit link) This cache was placed just before the start of Goose Fair 2011, but will remain in place permanently.

Transport: Car parking is available at (N 52° 57.900 W 001° 09.922) Also the NET trams run along the west end of the site and a number of bus routes run along Mansfield Road at the east end.

When Goose fair is not on, parking is available at the park and ride car park (N 52° 57.900 W 001° 09.922). When the fair is on parking is not available at the site and I would not advise parking near the site either. It is probably best to use the tram or the bus.

This is a short (& hopefully quite easy!) multi-cache, located at Forest Field Recreation Ground. The cache requires you to find four clues around the edge of the field in order to get the coordinates for the final container. The area is mostly flat and the cache can be completed without walking across grass.

=== TO LOCATE THE CACHE ===

You need to answer the following four questions:

A) At [N52° 57.855 W001° 09.999] You will see a hut belonging to one of the Nottingham Scout Groups. The number of this scout group is on the hut. This number is A

B) Now go to [N 52° 57.886 W 001° 09.753] there used to be an old toilet block and a lamp post here which the clue was based around, but they have both been demolished. In their place are a couple of trees with fences around. Go to one of the trees/fences, count the number of vertical bars on one side of the fence (excluding the corner posts) take 13 from this number to give you B.

C) Next go to [N52° 57.930 W001° 09.571] you will find yourself at the top of a set of stairs with a handrail down the centre. Count the number of vertical posts supporting the handrail. That number is C

D) On the other side of the field, standing on the pavement at [N 52° 57.994 W 001° 09.789] you should see a yellow fire hydrant post with a two digit number on it, ?8. The first digit is D

The final cache is located at [N52 57.CAD W001 09.CDB]
The cache is now a small magnetic tube as the clear 0.4 litre plastic box.

Many thanks to Trevorsilk for placing a temporary cache when it went missing.

*** Well done to skybluesbazza for being the first to find! ***
