Reverend Francis Clark organized first Methodist Society in Ky.,
1783; such groups formed Methodist Episcopal Church, established
1784. Clark, from Virginia, settled near here. A local preacher, he
was assisted by John Durham, lay leader. Society, led by Clark and
Durham, began westward movement of Methodism. Grave is north on
Quirk's Run Road.
Rev. Clark organized his neighbors into a Methodist Society. One
member of this group was Mrs. James Harrod (Ann Coburn), wife of
the founder of Harrodsburg, Kentucky
Francis' grave is in a cemetery in a barnyard behind the house
at XXXX Quirks Run Road Danville, KY and is not marked. It is said
to have been originally marked with a stone that said F. C. that
was presented by United Methodists-Ky. Conference.
That's a little bit of history, I omitted some information that
would lead to the cemetery which is located on private
property.
The cache is located nowhere near the grave, but it is within
site of the historical marker.
There is a pull off area near the cache. The parking place may
be bad during the rain/snow/icy weather. Small container with log
only. BYOP
