This is the final cache in our series entitled 9 pieces of 8.We began this series with a puzzle, and that's the only fair way to end it.We've had a wonderful time this summer visiting all these places and placing all these treasures for you, scally, but here's where the journey ends.As we stated before, we will be placing a chest full of booty in a location that's full of it's own treasure for those cachers that find all 9.You don't have to be the FTF to get to the chest, but you'll have to get all 9 Jolly Rodgers.
Pirates require liberty to do their work, so we chose an area we know as North Liberty for the final piece. This is a puzzle of a different sort, but a cache none the less.We wish the best to you scallywags and landlubbers. The puzzle's not too difficult to solve, but the real message each and every one of you take from here may be, for the treasure buried here is of a different kind. We'd oblige you to include what you've found to be the real treasure in your logs.
To Start the deciphering, points you are searching for are N 41* AB.CDE, W 080*0V.XYZ. Locate the Teddy Bear marker and subtract the year of birth from year of death to find A.Next, find the Butterfly stone to get B.Count the number of letters of the 2nd word from the saying on the back of the stone. Then find Steven Douglas Webster. To find C,calculate his age then add those two single digits together. Then find the sum of adding those two digits together. To find D, count the number of letters in the third and fourth words of the epitaph.Next, find Jack the sailor and place the second number of his birth year for E.
Visit Robert and Marie Elder to locate XY.Their young love endured a lifetime full of fast paced changes. In a world where so many come and go, they stayed right up 'til the end.I'm guessing that she was no longer willing without him.XY are the second and third digits from the years that they passed away.To find V and Z, re visit the listed parking points.V is the years between Charles W's death and Carrie L's birth.Z is George C's age. We're pretty sure they're all Young.
Enjoy the search for the treasure,as the treasure is searching for you.
